Description
Canon RF 28-70mm F2.8 IS STM Features:

  • The innovative lightweight design of the F2.8 standard zoom lens weighs only 495g and is only 92.2mm long when folded.
  • The size and weight are greatly reduced by using a large-diameter lightweight UD lens in the front group, a new small image frame structure and a retractable lens design. The lightweight front element brings the center of gravity of the lens closer to the camera, making the lens feel lighter than it actually is.
  • The newly developed optical design of 15 elements in 12 groups4 incorporates two UD lenses to correct chromatic aberration throughout the entire zoom range. Two effectively configured Glass Molded (GMo) aspherical lens elements provide high-quality images across the entire frame while maintaining a compact size.
  • 9 rounded aperture blades create beautiful soft bokeh.
  • The lens’ Optical Image Stabilizer provides up to 5.5 stops of anti-shake effect1 in the center of the frame, making handheld shooting easier. When used with an EOS R series camera with body-mounted image stabilization, IS can be coordinated to provide up to 7.5 stops in the center of the image and 7.0 stops around the periphery2.
  • At 28mm, it provides a minimum focusing distance of 0.24m (manual focus) and 0.27m (autofocus).
  • At 70mm focal length it provides 0.24x maximum magnification at a 0.35m focusing distance.
  • A magnetic sensor is added to the screw-type stepper motor (STM) to read the motor's speed. In addition, by increasing the motor speed and adopting feedback control, high-speed, high-precision AF and smooth Movie Servo AF are achieved.
  • Electronic full-time manual focus is supported in both One-Shot AF and Servo AF5.
  • Supports Focus Breathing Correction when shooting movies6.
  • Equipped with a "focus mode / control selection" switch design, it is convenient to quickly switch the "focus / control ring" for focus ring operation or control ring operation to adjust settings such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO sensitivity or exposure compensation.
  • Excellent super spectrum coating and optimized lens shape to improve anti-ghosting and anti-glare performance.
  • The lens hood EW-73D (sold separately) further enhances the anti-glare effect.
  • Same high durability, shock resistance, dust and water resistance as L-series lenses3.
